LAUSD Outstanding Schools
May 11th, 2012
Great schools are what help our young people excel and find success in their lives. That is why I was thrilled to learn that more than 120 LAUSD schools demonstrated their commitment to academics by reaching their statewide Academic Performance Index (API) goal of 800. An API of 800 or more means that the schools excelled in the academic performance of their students and represents an important benchmark that all our public schools strive to attain.
I was proud to host the principals of these schools in City Council on Friday, May 11 and thank them for their commitment to academic excellence. I was joined by the Superintendent of LAUSD, Dr. John Deasy, and Senior Coordinator, Charter Schools Division, Robert Bravo, who also offered words of encouragement and congratulations.
It takes everyone to make a school great, so my congratulations also goes out to all the teachers, students, and parents who worked hard to ensure the best education for our students. I believe in the importance of education and the need to ensure that our children are afforded the best opportunities possible.
