2011 Homeless Count Starts Thursday
Every two years, the City of Los Angeles as well as Los Angeles County endeavor to conduct a homeless count. This semi-annual count is mandated by U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and will take place this week.
I urge you to stop by and offer your support for this important effort. The homeless count will help determine the effectiveness of our efforts to end homelessness in our city and the amount of funding we will receive for the next two years from HUD to assist in our efforts.
Volunteers will be sent out this week in our city on the evening of Thursday, January 27, 2011. You can get information about where volunteers are staging the count for your council district by contacting the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA).
